Raise to Wake is a new Lock screen feature available in iOS 10. It allows you to wake your phone’s screen simply by picking up your phone. This feature is on by default, but if you’d rather not use it, it’s simple to turn off.

With the Raise to Wake feature, you don’t have to press the Home button or Power button to wake your phone’s screen. If you use the speedy Touch ID feature to unlock your phone, you might accidentally unlock it in iOS 10 when you try to press the Home button to wake the screen (although, you can still wake the screen using the Power button).

Maybe you don’t want the screen turning on every time you pick up the phone to put it in your pocket, pouch, or purse, so you want to turn off the Raise to Wake feature. To do so, tap the “Settings” icon on the Home screen.
