PTP即精密时间同步协议，是比NTP精度更高的一种时间同步技术。两种技术协议都是基于网络实现网络时间同步，但精度不同，NTP的授时精度通常在

毫秒级（视网络规模），PTP的时间同步精度可以达到微秒级（视网络规模）。网络用户根据应用需要选择不同技术类型的时间同步服务器。通常公安监控、电子商务等时间精度要求毫秒级足够的应用选用NTP时间服务器。而3G/4G基站、工业控制等对时间同步精度要求较高的应用需选用PTP时间服务器。
